George Harrison: Living in the Material World Stateside May 1st!

Not only am I a huge Beatles fan, but maybe even more importantly, I am a huge George Harrison fan.

So to say that I am excited for George Harrison: Living in the Material World a Martin Scorsese Picture to be stateside May 1st is an understatement. I have been obsessed with this since it came out in October of 2011 on HBO.

I do not have HBO, and I am pretty sure as of June this year we will no longer have cable and I will have to resort to watching my one and only favorite TV show on my computer, but I am okay with it, because our tv is on maybe twice a week. So I was unable to watch it in October. :(

Now fast forward to this morning, opening Facebook on my iPhone, to see that I now only have to wait one more month exactly for it to be mine forever! Oh yeah I have already pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition Box set on Amazon. I have only heard amazing things about this documentary, and I would never think of Harrison or Scorsese to disappoint!

Here is to amazing talent, beautiful people, and finding perfection, in the imperfections of life.
George, we will forever love what you left behind for us, your music! <3

“I think people who truly can live a life in music are telling the world, ‘You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don’t need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it’s the very best, and it’s the part I give most willingly”

Palm Springs, Ca

Two weekends ago Jimi and I went on my company trip to Palm Springs, Ca. It was cold and rainy with only a little bit of sun one morning, so we spent most of our time lounging in the hotel room, eating and drinking. Not quite as resorty as we were hoping, but relaxing none the less!

Here are the details:

Hotel - Riviera Resort and Spa - style: contemporary and kinda late 50's mod with bold pattern and bright colors, food: Awesome, pool: Nice with real sand and fire pits!

The Drive - Cabazon and Desert Hills Outlet Malls, A&W Rootbeer floats, and Jack Rabbit Pass (60 HWY), snow on the mountains and suddenly hitting rows of palm tress, knowing you have arrived.

Breakfast and a Movie - The Rum Diaries (gets a big thumbs up!) On Demand and Room Service (our first time) consisting of omelets, orange juice, coffee, potatoes, and bread (Jimi had the best Huevos Rancheros of his life!)

Poolside - AM sun, a late lunch (best grilled cheese sandwich ever), a really good drink called the Sharon (Bacardi peach red rum, peach puree, fresh orange juice & lime blended with ice), and the jacuzzi once it started to rain.

Downtown - It was Saturday night and St. Patrick's Day, so it was busy, but we got ourselves into an authentic little French restaurant called Pomme Frite. It was amazing!! Who knew in the middle of Palm Springs!?

Sleeping in, napping and going to bed early = a whole lota rest!

I am obsessed with rootbeer so this was Ahhmazzing!

My posse...of cats

Poppy aka. Princess Poppy or Cat Statue

Paco aka. Paco Buddy

Yota aka. Yodddeeeerss

These three light up my life. All for different reasons, since they have such strong, independent personalities, that I never knew existed!

First of all I have to say, I was a dog person. But this dog person, fell in love with not one cat, but three cats, and she fell hard. These are my kids for now, and yes they are spoiled and have the whole guest bedroom to themselves. Can you say first world problem cats?

The thing is I had no idea what was coming to me when I adopted Paco and Poppy from a stray mama cat that had just had kittens. The mama cat was pregnant, and was taken in by a family that gave all the kittens away in pairs and kept her in the end. Six months later we came across Yota...short for Toyota...trapped in the engine bay of my roommates Toyota. She had taken a drive and had survived the freeway, a hot engine and moving parts without a scratch! Once we got her out, her stray family would not take her back. So we kept her, she was only 6 weeks old at the time. And now she lives high on the hog, with no desire to ever leave the house again. Paco and Poppy, have grown up together with a very live curiosity and playfulness. The Daytona 500 takes place in our house weekly, with them doing hot laps and ending with a major crash and a victorious winner.

What I did not see coming was the love, the fun, the expressions, and the personalities a cat can bring. A dog brings the same things to the table, just in a different way. I've had the pleasure of learning in the past 2 years how a cat can be just as rewarding as a dog.

This dog person is now very much a cat and dog person.

Spring is here!

Spring is here in Southern California and the flowers in my front gardens are exploding with color and fragrance!

We have about 20 rose bushes in our front yard separating the grass from the sidewalk. This is my rose garden. We have lived at our house for about 2 years now and they are one of my favorite things about it. They are hardy, gorgeous and bloom year round!

My other garden in the front yard, is the front porch planter that stretches the full length of our porch...this is what needs TLC and is the next project on my list. My amaryllis seem to be doing just fine.
