Wanderlust Wednesday // Summer 2013

If you missed Part I, catch up here! Part I was all about my Spring trips, now it is all about my Summer trips! Paddling up and down the California coast, Palm Springs and what's next!

Palm Springs
A fun weekend away in a pretty house with a pool.
I have been lucky enough to stay in this house twice and it is a dream. Read more on the house here. We basically just hung out and chilled. Here are a few photos from around the house, but mostly just a lot of my dog, Ozzie in the pool.

Birthday Throwback Thursday!

It is Thursday, so it is traditionally time for a throwback photo on Instagram!

But today is also my birthday, so this throwback will be extra special.

Here are a few of me on past birthdays to celebrate turning another year older.

Little Maddie with Night Night

2008

Last year's birthday paddle!

A few fun birthday facts...

I love birthdays, but am horrible at remembering them (even my own). I will remember all the way up till the day before and then poof it goes out of my head the whole day of.

But more importantly I love to share my birthday! I share it with someone at work...same day, same year...just hours apart on different coasts! It is kinda cool. I also end up sharing my birthday with a good friend, Bruce, who's birthday lands on the day after mine. We like joint celebrations like our El Matador dinner last night...thanks to everyone who came!!!

Celebrity Birthdays: I have the same birthday as Ben Afflek, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Child and Princess Anne.

I get to go to Hawaii for my birthday...I think that is pretty awesome...I may not come home.

Aloha!

Wanderlust Wednesday // Spring 2013

2013 has been a craaazzzy year...to say the least.

It is one of those times in life where you are like how on earth did I think I was so busy before all this???

This year:
Started planning our wedding
Started my own business
Will attend 5 weddings/receptions by the years end
Paddled the 6 man outrigger season
Travel to: Monterey, Big Sur, Ventura, Havasu, Florida, Palm Springs (2x), Catalina (2x), Hawaii (possibly 2x)...and  I know there will be more since Fall is our favorite time to weekend camp trips!

"Have I gone mad?
I'm afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

...I hope this is true.

I have already written about my trips to Big Sur and Monterey in my Central California Road Trip post and Ventura was all about Craftcation, which I wrote about here and here. I can't write about Hawaii (I leave in a matter of days!), but I have yet to write about my Spring trips! Havasu and Florida in April, and Catalina in May!

I had not really gotten a chance to go through the photos from these trips until recently and I been loving going back through and enjoying the memories this past week.

Havasu
My Aunty's wedding.
This was my first time in Havasu and the lake and views were of course gorgeous. It looked like a typical Spring break hang out...which is what it is most known for becasue the weather is so nice. It was hot but dry so I was in heaven. I love the desert (don't tell Jimi). I am a huge fan of dry heat, warm winds, fiery sunsets, and giant mesas always in view. Here are a few photos from the trip.

We really loved these trees..they were every where there!

The best sunset.

Can't beat hot weather and the pool.

Florida
Jimi's cousin wedding and a weekend with his family at their house in Florida.
This was my second time to Florida, check out my first Florida trip post here, but this was my first trip to where Jimi spent most of his summer's as a kid. Sebastian, FL sits along a lazy river just off of the Intercoastal. We made sure we were out on the water each day we were there. The quiet serenity of the river was truly wonderful. We also made it out to the Intercoastal to hang out on the sand bar that sits in the middle. It is kind of a perfect place to set up camp and stay awhile. Got some great shots of us on the water.

Loving Lately // Happy Friday + Giveaway!

Happy Friday friends!

What do you have planned for the weekend? I know I am going to fully enjoy mine!

Summer is flying by, but then it always does...is it becasue it is my favorite time of year???

Late sunsets, warm nights, sunny days, getting outside (more), enjoying nature, the beach and my favorite - the ocean. I would take the ocean over the beach any day. Being in the water, or on the water surrounded by big blue...that is where I want to be when I can.
I'll be there tomorrow morning.

I have not been there as much I would like to be this summer, and I am okay with that. I have been inspired by it, and all nature, so I have been in the shop creating and making. I love being there just as much...my hands are saying what my words never could and I am getting them dirty. July was focused on my Summer line: Wild Hearts (which I am in love with, by the way), but August is going to be focused on enjoying the rest of my summer (Hawaii, people, Hawaii) and getting on the water, paddling and some surfing (I miss Blackies, SanO too).

I have so much to be thankful for and I am loving all the awesome support my friends and family have given me over the past few months starting this, what I hope to be, epic journey. So I think it needs to be celebrated...

Last week I reached over 100 likes on Facebook, along with a few other milestones, and I have just released my Summer line. So, I am giving away a pair of my copper earrings to celebrate!

Native drop earrings with puka shell in copper.

The only mandatory entry for this giveaway is to like us on Facebook, which is simple enough. All the other entries are for bonus points. :)

Good luck!

Heart Art // Mad Dream Design Summer Line: Wild Hearts

Happy August! (my favorite month of the year...)

Summer....

I am thinking salty curls, natural beauty, the beach and backyard barbeques.

Our Summer line is an extension of our Spring 2013 line: Tribe Vibes. Tribes Vibes was nature inspired with clean lines, and a cultural outlook on minimal design. I love that, and I still wanted that to ring true in my designs, with a twist.

Mad Dream Design Falcon drop earrings (Spring 2013)

In addition to the earrings from our Spring line we have added all new necklaces and dangle earrings + a few new designs. The one thing you will see throughout Wild Hearts are shells! For me Summer is lived at the beach and I am constantly inspired by the ocean, so shells fit the bill just right. Plus, they look amazing against the copper.

Mad Dream Design Falcon Necklace with Puka Shell (Summer 2013)

Our Summer 2013 line, Wild Hearts is all about getting outside, in nature and living as wild and free as your heart will let you. As they say, wild hearts can't be broken.

All of our new designs will in the shop by the end of day today, and I couldn't be more excited to share them with you!

Shop now, if you'd like!

Here is the look I was going for while creating Wild Hearts...

I am super excited to be celebrating a few milestones along with the release of our Summer line, so I am having a giveaway on the blog tomorrow! I will be giving away a pair of copper earrings. Want to participate? Make sure to LIKE us on Facebook.

Enjoy! xo,
