Mad Style // The Engagement Photos

If you want to know more about our story read: Our Love Story.

Part 3: The Engagement.

Details:
Location: The Orange Circle
Photographer: Ozzie Jack Clarke
Engaged: December 23rd, 2013
Wedding Date: February 14th, 2014

So far we have been having a blast - getting engaged, being engaged, and planning the wedding. We like the process and we love this time together. I am glad we decided to have a longer engagement and gave ourselves lots of time to enjoy it. By the looks of things, it is right in line with our relationship style...easy, cool and steady.

We like historical, classic, and simple things with a bit of imperfection in them...which is why we love the area we live in, and the fact that we have places like the Artist's Village and The Orange Circle just down the street from us, is a dream come true.

When people hear we live in Santa Ana, I almost immediately get the look, or the reaction of "why would you choose to live there?" In our opinion, why the heck not? We love Santa Ana. We live in the historical area of Santa Ana (people usually love this...duh) that backs up to the historical district of Orange. I get to see history and charm everyday, and I can't get enough! I know, it may not be the first thing you think of when you hear Santa Ana...but it is the first thing we think of.

We definitely wanted to share all of that, plus our love (of course) in these photos. Ozzie did a great job at capturing that, with the classic touch we wanted. He was great to work with and has an artistic eye that I really appreciate.

The past two weeks I have been falling all over these photos.
They are kind of at the heart of me.

Let's take a little trip back in time...

Mr. The Kid

Today I am featuring my Maid of Honor and a best friend, who just happens to be my sister.

About the blog.
My little sister, Lily, lives in LA and I luckily get to see her almost weekly. She has an amazing heart and a gorgeous blog, Mr. The Kid, running over at Tumblr. Her blog is very visual and a great source for fashion, design and anything white or pure.

What's different?
Lily has a had a few other in blogs in the past and they all have been visual, photo blogs, that have all been very well curated. As you scroll through Mr. The Kid, the subtle themes of color, feel and mood change ever so slightly.  Even though the photography is presented in a cache style, you can clearly find the muse of the day in each grouping of photos. The thought behind each group totally comes through as a cohesive collection - that is what I love most about her blog. Yes there is a certain style to her blog and to the photography, but it isn't limited to a theme. I also love that fact that it inspires the idea that each day we are inspired by something different, it is not the same thing from day to day, but a revolving image.

 Enjoy!

sunglasses

One of my obsessions...

from Ray Bans to Oakleys to the cheapest pair I can find...I have had them all.

I wear them till they are so scratched I can no longer see out of them, or till they fall apart, or brake in my purse. I usually always have two pairs on me and they are usually a different color and shape, so I can match my mood.

Sunglasses = mood
They set a mood for you to be who you want to be at that very second.
They portray a certain mood to other people.
you can be someone else or you can just be yourself (my personal favorite).

Life is just so much more fun with sunglasses on.

Here is some eye candy. Enjoy!

Sally Mann

Im in love with the photography of Sally Mann...

It is pure, innocent and raw all at the same time. Its authentic and beautiful in its own way.

Most of these photos are from her series "Immediate Family" and "At Twelve: Portrait of Young Women" and are of one of her three children in their younger years.

Enjoy.

Everyday Inspirations

The Ocean
The place where I feel most connected with things bigger than myself...where I feel most at peace with life and things to come...where I can send things out into the universe and feel like they are actually being received...as the waves are taking my thoughts out to sea it is the only place I feel alright with the world.

Amazing People
I am fortunate enough to know a lot of amazing people, that learn from, grow with and become inspired by. As the years go on I find more & more amazing people, they are not always easy to find.

Art
The way it can open so many different emotions you didn't even know you were feeling at the time. And this goes for all artistic genres...painting, music, design, etc.
